"In 1842, Mary appeared to a staunch atheist, Alphonse Ratisbonne, who was in the church while waiting for his friend to take care of some business with the parish. He not only converted on the spot, but had an instantaneous infusion of knowledge of the Catholic faith.
At the side altar where this occurred, St. Maximillan Kolbe celebrated his first Mass as a priest in 1918.
The angel statues on either side of the altar are by Bernini. You might recognize them from the Bridge of the Angels which stretches from Castel Sant’Angelo across the Tiber. These are the only ones by Bernini; the rest are by his students. They were moved here to protect them from the elements, and two copies were placed on the bridge in their place."

"The Basilica Sant'Andrea delle Fratte is a beautiful church located in the Piazza di Spagna in Rome, Italy. It is dedicated to Saint Andrew the Apostle.
The church was built in the 12th century and was originally called Sant'Andrea "infra hortos" (Saint Andrew "in the gardens"). It was later renamed Sant'Andrea delle Fratte because it was located near a monastery of the Minims, who are also known as the Friars Minor.
The church was rebuilt in the 17th century by the architect Francesco Borromini. The interior of the church is decorated with paintings and sculptures by some of the most important artists of the 17th century, including Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Pietro da Cortona, and Andrea Sacchi."
