Hofbräukeller

"Do not confuse HofbräuKELLER with the over-touristed, expensive, and subpar HofbräuHAUS that confusingly tops the list of every ‘Munich Must Do’ travel itinerary. This beer garden and restaurant offer quality Bavarian food, but in what I consider to be the best atmosphere in Munich. Like many of my recommendations, I would really emphasise visiting in the warmer months, as the indoor seating is nice, but absolutely does not convey the wonderful beer garden vibes that make living in Munich so great. The garden seating is closely packed. It's just big enough that you don’t have to worry about finding a seat, (even on weekends) while also not feeling too expansive and isolating. The food is self service, and there is a little play park area that is always full of small kids. Come by after work on a day with great weather, and expect to find me unwinding with a beer and some friends. While probably losing at backgammon. Personal Anecdote: I always have my low key birthday celebration here! I cannot emphasise enough how much I love the atmosphere."
