"Standing at the top of Aliados avenue, the City Hall is a late 19th Century building, marking the advent of the Liberal regime by hiding (due to its enormous size) the Trindade Church - then one of the most important symbols of the power of the Catholic Church in the city - affirming the relevance of the political civil power over the clergy influence of the society.
It is possible to visit inside the building, with its intricate interiors, full with black and white marble and goldish ceilings, contracting with the austere look from the outside."

"Situated at the top of Avenida dos Aliados is the city hall of Porto. Here you will find the famous blue Porto city sign (a fun photo op). Currently (November 2023), there is major construction going on in this area, as the city is adding a new Metro line. Most sidewalks are open, but parts of the streets are closed. But don't let it deter you from at least walking around!"
Abby Fracchia
"Free entrance"
