"Centrale can be hectic and the market is off to the left side so definitely use a map to find it.
Appropriately modern and often busy, it is worth arriving early to have a meal before your train leaves, or perhaps sample a handful of vendors. My favorites:
- upstairs at U Barba there is farinata, a chickpea pancake (gluten free) that is one of the staples of Liguria and this may be the only place to get it in Milan (besides U Barba’s original location)
- Roman style pizza and pastries at Davide Longoni
- coffee at Martesana (they have soy milk which is rare)
- risotto at the Risotteria Barzetti (check out the slab of butter and the little risotto cakes)"
