"Sugarloaf Mountain is one of the best hikes in Marquette, regardless of the season. In the fall, you can find 360 degree views of the surrounding area from this 1,000-foot tall mountain. You can even see Black Rocks from one of the observation decks at the summit. Although this is technically a loop trail, you can also hike it as an out and back. There are two parking lots, but only the second one is open in the winter. I find taking the difficult route up and back to be faster, although a bit more challenging. Expect lots of stairs on the final ascent, which require microspikes in the winter. Sugarloaf Mountain is a great place to catch a sunset or sunrise while you're in Marquette. "One of the best viewpoints in the Marquette area is Sugarloaf Mountain. It is well worth the short hike up to see the views. We highly recommend this in the fall to see the changing leaf colors"
