From the time I fell in love with the Beach Boys music, I have been an ocean loving girl. I longed to go to the California coast and live the life, surfing, and lying on the beach all day. But growing up in the Southern part of the United States that never was to be. I never lost either my love of the beach/ocean or my desire to see the California coast, but it was a long, LONG time before I could make that dream come true.  But finally I did, and believe me, it was all I hoped and imagined it would be. 

I traveled the Pacific Coast Highway from San Francisco to Pismo Beach exploring every little place that looked fun, interesting or just spectacularly scenic.  As you can imagine--I stopped a LOT.  In this guide I will share with you all of the wonderful places I discovered. You too can live the dream. I also include many of the photos I took at each place.

The Buena Vista

My favorite cocktail is an Irish Coffee so of course I had to make a visit to the Buena Vista--home of the first Irish Coffee in the U.S.  I am including a link to the Buena Vista with the history of how they came to offering the Irish Coffee.  Be sure to sit at the bar and watch the bar tenders create these masterpieces.  

Ambiance: Laid-back and casual "saloon" type atmosphere that is famous for their Irish coffee 

My recommendation: Dungeness crab omelette and a double Irish coffee:)

A MUST for Irish coffee. This place was the first to introduce it to the US. They even do them Togo and they also have food.

Opened in 1916, this corner spot serves its signature Irish coffee alongside American staples.

The Irish Coffee was invented here in 1952, so try that and enjoy the live music
