" Hey! I recently had an incredible stay at the Ion Adventure Hotel, located on Mount Hengill in Iceland. This hotel is a true gem nestled in the heart of nature, offering a unique and unforgettable experience. First of all, let me tell you about the breathtaking surroundings. The hotel is situated just 18 km from the UNESCO-listed Thingvellir National Park, immersing you in the natural beauty of Iceland. The panoramic scenic views from the hotel's bar are simply stunning, allowing you to take in the awe-inspiring landscapes while enjoying a refreshing drink. The guest rooms at Ion Adventure Hotel are both comfortable and stylish. I was delighted to find that each room was equipped with free WiFi, satellite TV, a seating area, and a private bathroom. Some rooms even offered magnificent views of Lake Thingvallavatn, adding an extra touch of tranquility to my stay. One of the highlights of my experience was dining at the hotel's restaurant. They specialize in Nordic cuisine, and let me tell you, the flavors were out of this world. The dishes were expertly crafted using locally sourced ingredients, providing a true taste of Iceland. The combination of delectable food and the panoramic views made for an unforgettable dining experience. During my stay, I also took advantage of the on-site spa and sauna. I can't recommend the Ion Adventure Hotel enough for those seeking a unique and unforgettable experience in Iceland. The combination of its stunning location, comfortable accommodations, delicious cuisine, and excellent amenities truly made my stay one for the books. "A table mountain that doubles as a not-quite-dormant volcano. A geothermal area with steam spurting through the ground. The largest natural lake in the country. Easy access to the country's first national park. Sounds like a spectacular setting for a hotel. The mountain is Hengill. The geothermal area is Nesjavellir, home to the second-largest geothermal power station in Iceland. The lake is Þingvallavatn. The national park is Þingvellir. As of a few years ago, the hotel is ION Adventure Hotel. And, yes, it's pretty spectacular. ION Adventure Hotel took over an abandoned inn and gave it an amazing facelift. The stilted, modernist building now features black cladding, lots of raw concrete, and floor-to-ceiling windows. Minimal rooms feature wood floors and oversized photos of horses. The restaurant serves fresh, local ingredients. The bar offers Icelandic beer and spirits. Plus there's an indoor-outdoor spa with treatment rooms, saunas, and a year-round pool that's geothermally heated (of course). Be sure to request a wake-up call if the northern lights make an appearance."
