Whether you're an art aficionado or simply seeking inspiration, the Matisse Museum promises a captivating experience that transcends time and invites you to see the world through the eyes of a true master. "In a fully renovated Genoese villa set in the olive grove in the Cimiez Gardens, this single-artist museum follows the artistic development of the painter who lived in Nice from 1917 to his death in 1954. Exceptional closing from 30/05 to 22/06/2023. The Matisse Museum houses the donations to the City of Nice of Henri Matisse and his heirs. The collection, rich in nearly 600 works, traces Matisse's artistic research from the 1890s to the cut-out gouache papers of the end of his life. The museum also preserves the artist's personal objects, which allows us to enter into the intimacy of his creation. The temporary exhibitions invite us to take a fresh look at this 20th century master, by highlighting little-known aspects of his work or by placing him in dialogue with other artists of his time and those he influenced."

"The Matisse Museum is a fairly well-known attraction in Nice, and is known for its extensive collection of Henri Matisse's works. This is one of the more popular attractions in Nice. If you have time, it's worth seeing. The crowds here are not as busy as with other attractions, but it still sees quite a few visitors."
