"Located at the top of ChĆ¢teau hill, the park is a vast labyrinth of greenery which overlooks the city of Nice, offering a panoramic view of the entire Baie des Anges.
The ChĆ¢teau de Nice is one of the historic monuments of the city missed by all. Perched on the highest hill, it was destroyed in 1706 by the troops of Louis XIV. In 1822, the city council decided to make the hill a large landscaped park. Exotic plants are acclimatized there, romantic paths with false ruins are created, archaeological excavations are undertaken and a large waterfall with a false rockery cave is built at the end of the 19th century.
Today, only a few ruins of the castle remain which testify to its importance in the heart of an immense green park dominating the entire Baie des Anges. Having become a real place of life, there is a vast playground for children as well as refreshment bars and observation points allowing you to fully admire the Promenade des Anglais and the beauty of the Mediterranean Sea. Riviera residents like to meet up there with friends or family, for a picnic, a sporting activity or a relaxing walk. For the most curious, telescopes are available to observe each corner of the landscape more closely. A majestic artificial waterfall also attracts everyone's interest.
To get there, it is possible to take an elevator directly from the exit of the old town. The most courageous are invited to climb the hundreds of steps of the Lesage staircase, while taking care to take a break at each floor to marvel at the landscape that emerges as they go."

"An old fortification once stood in this location. The area has been transformed into a park with breathtaking vistas of Nice.
There is an elevator that takes you most of the way up, but it was broken when I visited. Iāve no idea if thatās a frequent issue or not, but if you want to go up, be prepared to find lots of stairs. The view is breathtaking at any time of day, so they are totally worth it! You will enjoy a full panorama of Nice and its stunning Baye des Anges. According to tradition, fishermen named this bay āBay of Angelsā after the many angelsharks that were often found here.

"This place is known as Castle Hill Park in English or Parc de la Colline du ChĆ¢teau in French. It is a .2 mile walk uphill from the #ilovenice sign. It will bring you to the Benoit waterfall.
There are multiple ways to access the park however I recommend taking in the coastal views by walking up the stairs on the opposite side of the street from the #ilovenice sign."
