"The Banff Gondola is located about five minutes from the Tunnel Mountain trail head. There is a large parking lot and parking is free. In the winter, you can usually walk on to the gondola at any time. I do recommend calling a couple of days in advance to confirm that they have availability but you should be able to play the time by ear so that you can go as soon as you finish your hike. This is really beneficial because it minimizes wait times and you don't have to rush your hike. Riding the gondola is a more pricey item. It cost me about $80, but it was one thousand percent worth it. The ride up the mountain is nice and you’ll see some good views but the real highlight is at the top. When you step outside of the visitors center, you’ll be treated to mountain views in all directions. There is a boardwalk path that you can follow to multiple lookout points and learn about the surrounding mountains from the information panels along the way. Near the end, you’ll be able to see Tunnel Mountain from a new vantage point which is really cool after climbing it earlier in the day. Inside the visitors center, there is a little museum type area which is included in your admission. This area provides lots of information about the park and it is a neat addition. There’s also a little theater that shows promotional short films; another great way to learn about all Banff National Park has to offer. If you’re looking for a unique experience, the visitor center also has a restaurant with beautiful views. I personally felt this was an unnecessary addition because of its price and the fact that you can get the same views without going into the restaurant. If fine dining is your thing, this could be a good spot to check out. "

"Start your day off by exploring the heights of Banff National Park with a visit to the Banff Gondola and a stroll along the Sulphur Mountain Boardwalk. Start your adventure by ascending to the summit of Sulphur Mountain via the Banff Gondola, a breathtaking eight-minute ride offering panoramic vistas of the Canadian Rockies. You can pre book the gondola by visiting the link below. The ticket costs depend on the season/day of the week but average from $60-$85. At the mountaintop, you'll be treated to unrivaled 360-degree views of Banff and six surrounding mountain ranges. But the adventure doesn't end there. Take a leisurely walk along the Sulphur Mountain Boardwalk. The boardwalk is approximately 1 km long and offers some of the most stunning views of Banff."
"Book ahead of time for discounted price with Viator link for $44.66. Discover sweeping scenes of six mountain ranges, the Bow Valley and the charming town of Banff from the Sulphur Mountain summit. Once you're at the top, begin your adventure by strolling the boardwalk to the Cosmic Ray Station and Sanson's Peak and learn about Canada's first national park. Then, head inside to explore our world-class mountaintop discovery centre. Fuel up on grab-and-go fare at Castle Mountain Coffee or enjoy an elegant meal at the award-winning Sky Bistro."

So, you're going to the Canadian Rockies? After living in Montana for many years, I knew and expected the terrain to be quite similar. I was in for quite the surprise when this area of Canada turned out to be one of the most beautiful places I've EVER visited. Below you'll find my favorite stops (separated by location) that we found along the way from Edmonton to Calgary (and a few stops over in BC!), along with tips on the area and an interactive map. I've included the hotels used personally, as well as some additional top rated stays at several price points. I've also included some stops that we didn't make it to this first time around, but we will definitely be heading back for them! Quick Disclaimer: Respect nature and wildlife. Wildlife is WILD and nature is natural. Treat them as such. Leave no trace when outdoors, and respect wildlife by giving them space. Locations included: 🏔️ Edmonton 🏔️ Jasper National Park 🏔️ Banff National Park 🏔️ Banff, Alberta (town) 🏔️ Lake Louise (town) 🏔️ Canmore, Alberta 🏔️ Calgary, Alberta I've added quite a few hotel options, as they all book up extremely quickly and are not cheap. I did highlight the ones we stayed at as well as provided descriptions of those! Pssst. Above is the exact route we drove also! We drove up from Montana, but flying in to Edmonton and renting a car or RV to drive this itinerary down through to Calgary is an awesome option. If you wish to continue this trip further like we did, drive down to Yoho and Kootenay National Parks in BC and Glacier National Park in Montana from Calgary! I have a separate guide for Glacier, but highly recommend if you have the time! I have listed a variety of different things from nature and hiking to food and craft beer to a few select "other" options (that don't involve hiking). However, this guide primarily focuses on the true beauty of nature in Canada. You won't run out of options! We found the Parks in Canada to be extremely accessible, dog friendly, and overall pretty clean. The red Adirondack chairs were the coolest thing, and I'm not going to explain that... You'll see what I mean.
