"Probably the most famous hike in the region, the Adolf Munkel trail is awe-inspiring at every turn. That being said, it’s not a hike for everyone - it’s a little on the harder side and best suits those who are experienced hikers with a good level of fitness. There are numerous starting points for this trek, but the classic one begins in Zans, nestled just to the east of Val di Funes. Once there, seek out trail signs for the Adolf Munkel path (no.35) and head east towards Dusler Alm. This route takes you through fragrant pine forests and leads to Dusler meadow, boasting great views of the towering Odle-Geisler peaks, including the sky-high Furchetta and Sass Rigais. There's a lovely rifugio where you can take a breather, or if you're eager for more, push on to Geisler Alm (trail 36). Be prepared for a bit of a climb here! Fancy a treat? Check out the charming Rifugio delle Odle. It's pricey, but worth every penny. Alternatively, carry on up to the gorgeous Gschnagenhardt Alm or pull out that packed lunch. Once you've had your fill of the views (and food), it's time to head towards the majestic peaks. Then, swing left on the trail to begin your descent back to Zannes (trail 35), hugging the rocky base of the Geisler-Odle peaks before branching left again on trail no.6 to return to Zannes. For those who'd rather start from Ranui/Val di Funes, take the wooded trail no. 28 upwards towards Broges Alm, then move west on the No. 35 trail to the Gschnagenhardt Alm hut and Rifugio delle Odle. The 34A trail will lead you back down to Ranui. A quick heads-up - parking in Zannes costs €8 between 7 am and 1 pm. Happy hiking!"
