The Ultimate 7-Day Itinerary to the Dolomites
Dallin Hassard
This is the ultimate 7-day itinerary for when you visit the Italian Dolomites. The Dolomites is one of my absolute favorite. One of the most notable features of this area is the incredible landscape, with jagged peaks, towering cliffs, and picturesque valleys.

Day 1
Venice Marco Polo Airport
@dallinhassard
Arrive and leave at the Venice airport and rent a car. I HIGHLY SUGGEST renting a car while in the Dolomites as this will give you the freedom to explore where you want. There is still public transportation but the Dolomites is a much larger area than you might expect. Some places will take 1-2 hours to reach by car and even longer with public transportation.

Passo Giau
@dallinhassard
This beautiful location is a great first stop on your way to the Dolomites. A short detour but worth it in my opinion. Get out, take photos, and enjoy the road trip to Cortina. Since it’s your first day you will probably be tired so arrive in Cortina, relax, have some dinner in town, and get some rest for the remainder of the trip.

Cortina d'Ampezzo
@dallinhassard
I suggest staying in Cortina d’Ampezzo for the entirety of your trip. I personally hate packing up and going to a whole new place to stay for a couple days.
This is a great centrally located location. About 30 minutes from Tre Cime and 60 minutes away from Lago Di Braies. There will be a couple of places such as Seceda and Alpe Suisi that will take longer to get to but you can do that in one day.
If you do want to stay in multiple locations I will have some hotels that I love under the stays section. For example, one of my favorite hotels in the area is Forestis. Forestis is located 2 hours away from Cortina and 1 hour away from Ortisei, another town centrally located.

Day 2
Tre Cime di Lavaredo
@dallinhassard
Tre Cime di Lavaredo is one of the most popular hikes in the Dolomites. For good reason as it is also one of the bests!
Distance: 5.5 miles (8.8km) loop
Difficulty: Moderate
Time: 2.5 - 5 hours
Location: Near Cortina d’Ampezzo
If you visit Tre Cime make sure to check out Cadini di Misurina as you park in the exact same parking lot to go on that hike. Both extremely gorgeous hikes and some of the best views in the world in my opinion.

Cadini di Misurina
@dallinhassard
When you go on this hike you’ll have amazing views of both Cadini di Misurina and Tre Cime. Also a much less popular hike but in my opinion, just as beautiful.
Distance: 2 miles (3.2km)
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 1-2 hours
Location: Near Tre Cime (same parking lot) Amd Cortina d’Ampezzo
