"I am always amazed that, even though this beach is right at the edge of Hauula village and in the middle of a residential area, everytime I go there, I am one of only a handful of people on this lovely, spacious stretch of sand!
The name of this beach is Kokololio. Be sure not to confuse it with Hauula Beach Park, which has a nice lawn but is not very appealing.
Even though it's visible from the main road adjacent to a large parking lot and park, it feels somewhat "hidden." So if you're looking for some solitude and a beach almost all to yourself this is the place ~ especially on weekdays!
On weekends and holidays, it's a popular place for large group get togethers, making for a very lively atmosphere, but it still never feels crowded.
If you walk all the way to the north end, you'll find a lava rock outcrop.
Facing south, Kokololio is framed by the Koolau mountain range, which is very picturesque.
Walking all the way to the south end of the beach, there is are shallow coral and lava rock pools, which are great for children, but only at low tide. This area is called "Bathtub Beach."
This is a nice beach for swimming and playing in the waves, especially when the conditions are milder. You'l also find some rope swings tied to trees dotted along the beach.

NEARBY ACTIVITIES & POINTS OF INTEREST:
The hub of activity in this area is the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie. This is a fun, up-beat, educational amusement park-style center highlighting the culture and traditions of the people of the Polynesian Islands. I have been here several times, absolutely love it and highly recommend the experience for both adults and children!

Restrooms, changing rooms and rinse-off showers. Picnic tables and grills.
LIFEGUARD:
None.
DIRECTIONS:
Driving north, the entrance to this large beach park (Kokololio) is on the ocean side right after you leave the village of Hauula, just past the shopping center.
Headed south, it's shortly after the Polynesian Cultural Center and Pounder's Beach before you get to the shopping center and village of Hauula.
This beach is very easy to find and can't be missed from the main road.
PARKING:
There is a large parking lot here, which is adjacent to the main road (Kam Highway.)
BUS:
The bus stop is Kokololio Beach Park (NOT Hauula Beach Park!) Bus #60.
FOOD & DRINK NEARBY:
This is one of the few beaches on Oahu which is actually within walking distance of places to eat and drink. Hauula village and shopping center are about 10 minutes walk from the south end of the parking lot.
Here you'll find Tamura's Grocery Store and Long's Drugs (CVS) for picnic provisions as well as Gord's Prime Rib Food Truck, Papa Ole's Hawaiian BBQ, Domino's Pizza, North Shore Tacos, Da Q Korean BBQ and the Polynesian Market and Take Away. There is also sometimes a Malasada Food Truck here. "
