"Shimokitazawa, or Shimokita, is a hip cultural quarter with a lingering old-Tokyo vibe. Narrow, mural-painted lanes are lined with stylish stores for vintage clothes and vinyl. Craft cafes and brewpubs host art shows and live bands, while bakeries and bistros serve inventive pastries and veggie curries. Edgy new plays debut at Honda Gekijo Theater, and young directors screen short movies at Tollywood cinema."

"The perfect spot for vintage shopping and quiet streets! We spent one of my favorite nights here, just a few stops on the train from Roppongi, this was a good change of space. Brooklyn roasting company, a great spot for coffee with a super cool vibe right under the train tracks. Endless food options all over town. Good to spend a couple hours here and most shops are open til 8!"

"I could do a whole section on Shimo but that would take forever. Seriously one of the coolest neighborhoods you could check out in Tokyo. Very hip with a lot of coffee shops and small artisans running little stores. It's also known for being a big fashion hub, although I will warn folks in advance that Japanese vintage is typically just 70s/80s era Americana clothing. "
