Welcome to the most geographically diverse country in the world, the U.S.A.! This guide is written based off of a road trip that we took in late 2020. The full itinerary is a little over three weeks (23 days, 22 nights), starting and finishing in Orlando (where we were living at the time). 

The best part about the itinerary? It's a loop! Allowing you to start and finish wherever. This itinerary is 100% personalizable and as many stops can be added or removed as you'd like. This route offers some amazing places, including the beaches in Florida, the deserts of the southwest, and the coastlines of California. 

The most optimal time to take this road trip is during the summer as you'll find the best weather everywhere. But because we're mainly down south, you can take this road trip in the winter without too much trouble in the snow. 

This itinerary includes 15 states, nine National Parks, 6000+ miles, and all of the costs we incurred along the way. Save this detailed 8-day hiking and road trip around the Golden Circle of Southern Utah and Northern Arizona.

Each day includes a day hike and scenic drives—including Angel's Landing and The Narrows. 

This guide is jam-packed with 46 recommendations, including a central Airbnb in Kanab, Utah, restaurants and bars, hiking trails, and tips for sightseeing in each park.

Angels Landing

Angels Landing Trail: 4.3 miles (hard)

This hike requires a permit and for good reason.  When I hiked Angels Landing, there was no permit system in place and the number of people on the trail was a bit dangerous.

While this is the hike everyone talks about, that does not mean everyone should do this hike.  It is difficult and it is scary.  Know yourself and your limits before attempting.  You will be scrambling along a ridgeline with huge drop-offs staring up at you, and only a chain link to hold you.  That being said, if reading that gets you excited, go for it.  The views are unmatched.

While the terrain is fairly technical near the top, there aren't any notable challenges except the psychological one imposed by the height and sheer scale of the terrain. You have steep dropoffs on either side of the trail, but there isn't much to be afraid of as long as conditions are warm and dry, and you're paying attention to where you're going!
