"This swimming hole in the Salento has become an Instagram phenomenon over the past few years. It may not be unspoiled anymore, but it’s popularity hasn’t killed the allure of this place. It’s a beautiful sight that’s worth a visit for an hour or so. Get in the queue to jump in and when you tire of the crowds, move onto another beach or explore the waters just beyond it. While most people cluster around the cave of poetry, the surrounding coastline adjacent to it is also stunning. The parking lot is just a few minutes walking distance down the road. Bring cash with you. Some kiosks accept credit cards, but they often malfunction. This is southern Italy after all!"
"The Grotta della Poesia is a wonderful natural pool located in Roca Vecchia, between San Foca and Torre dell'Orso. This splendid pearl of nature has been defined as one of the ten most beautiful natural pools in the world and it is not difficult to understand the reasons: it is a pool set in the rock characterized by an emerald body of water. Before it became one of the unmissable destinations it was possible to swim inside. Now due to mass tourism, the mayor has issued a bathing ban to protect this landscape."
"A stunning natural pool with beautiful blue water, surrounded by a limestone barrier. The name actually does not come from the Poetry, but rather a Greek word used to describe its fresh water. There are two pools here you can jump into, as well as the sea right alongside. This spot is not to be missed!"
