ANA ANDRA
"We begin our tour with Jane's Carousel, a masterpiece that captivates both young and old audiences with its artistic grandeur. The installation was built in 1922, by the architect Jean Nouvel. Initially, it was located in the city of Ohio, but the foundation that currently owns the installation decided to move it to NYC in 2011. The location of the installation offers spectacular views of the East River, the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges and the impressive Manhattan. The main structure of the cube consists of four cylindrical steel columns with a diameter of 50cm, spaced 2m from the facades and linked together by four steel beams located above the ceiling. The transparent box centers the carousel, directly under a circular skylight, its form and architectural plasticity an embodiment of Nouvel's belief that architecture should engage with its context, arouse curiosity and provoke thought, defying convention and blurring the lines between art, architecture and movement."
