"The Musical Instruments Museum (MIM) in Brussels is one of those places that feels like stepping into a treasure trove of sound and history. Every time I visit, I’m struck by the beauty of the building itself—it’s in the stunning Art Nouveau "Old England" building, with its intricate ironwork and large windows offering great views over the city.
Inside, it’s like a world tour of music. The collection is enormous, with over 8,000 instruments from all corners of the globe. What I love most is how interactive the experience is. With the audio guide, I can actually listen to what many of these instruments sound like, which makes it so much more alive and immersive. From ancient flutes to bizarre, experimental instruments, there’s always something that surprises me.
One of my favorite moments is visiting the rooftop café after exploring. The panoramic view of Brussels from up there is breathtaking, and it’s the perfect way to wrap up the visit. For me, the MIM isn’t just a museum—it’s a journey through the universal language of music."

"As a former marching band geek, I LOVED this museum!! Even if you are not as interested in music as I am, I still highly recommend visiting here. The tickets came with audio guides included that had recordings of what a lot of the instruments sounded like. They had some truly great instruments, and I was delighted to see that there were clarinets, bass clarinets, and saxophones, all made by Adolf Sax (Sax, like saxophone!), the inventor of these instruments.

"If you love musical instuments, it's very cool!
If that's not your thing, it's still worth seeing the building exterior for it's Art Nouveau style and consider going up to the top floor cafe for some incredible views of Brussels. "
