Suggested itinerary for 12-14 incredible days in the Southern Italian region of Sicily. 

I always thought Sicily was quite small for some reason, I think I may have been thinking of Capri… turns out Sicily is the largest region in Italy! It would be an absolute dream to drive through by car, but for me, it was all buses... and a LOT of them. 

Despite getting from one end to the other in 7+ hours and 3 buses, it was always a very scenic drive. You got to see all sorts of beautiful landscapes along the way, including vineyards, lakes, beaches, and mountains. 

If you have 12 nights to spend in Sicily like I did, this is my recommended itinerary for you based on how much I liked each place.

7 Days in East Sicily - Trip Itinerary from a Sicilian

Modica

A beautiful Baroque town, Modica is known for its architecture and especially the unique stepped streets, which are a hallmark of the historic center. You can explore the many Baroque churches, palaces, and public buildings that dot the town, including the impressive Cathedral of San Giorgio. 

Fresh ricotta cheese, homemade pasta, and delectable desserts are just a few of Modica's culinary specialties. Outdoor enthusiasts can take advantage of the many hiking trails in the surrounding countryside, which offer great views of the town and the surrounding landscape. 

One more Baroque beaty, the land of Chocolate and one of the oldest and most powerful Sicilian Cities: Modica! You'll get lost in its narrow alleys, do lots of steps (believe me) and have some of the best food you'll find in Sicily

Modica's architecture will blow you away. Homes are practically built into the cliffs, and Baroque buildings are sprinkled throughout town.
