"Not much comes for free in La Fortuna, but this local favorite swimming hole "El Salto" provides the perfect place to relax on the rocks, watch brave souls dive into the water, and people-watch the very eclectic mix of culture here.
It’s located about 1 mile south of the downtown area along Road 702, right under the bridge pictured above.
There’s room for a handful of cars on either side of the bridge and usually an “unofficial” parking attendant by one of the parking sections who will watch your car for a few colones.
I recommend bringing your bathing suit, water shoes, towels, food & drinks, cash and a dry bag with you. Important to note there’s no changing rooms, bathrooms, or facilities of any kind here– so plan accordingly and wear your bathing suit under your clothes!"

"El Salta is a local favorite free swimming hole, complete with a rope swing.
This is not a paid attraction or overly popular with tourists. Special care should be taken as there are no lifegaurds or special safety measures in place."
