"Mlinčići, located 6 km northwest of Jajce between Veliko and Malo Jezero, host a unique collection of 20 preserved watermills known locally as "mlinčići." These mills are situated on travertine barriers, arranged in two rows, showcasing high ethnographic value.
Built solely for function and necessity, these mills exhibit simplicity in design, devoid of decorations, windows, or ceilings. Each mill stands on wooden pillars of varying heights due to the uneven terrain, covered by multi-pitched roofs with shingles. Accessible via wooden planks, these mills are equipped with necessary machinery like grinders and mill wheels.
Originally constructed from wood, these mills have undergone reconstruction, including the addition of connecting pathways completed in 1985, facilitating continuous exploration. Despite damage during the Bosnian War, the complex has been fully restored, with one mill currently operational due to maintenance challenges.
In addition to their historical charm, the Mlinčići are illuminated at night, offering a picturesque attraction.
Their serene setting by Pliva Lakes also makes them ideal for water sports, including kayaking and rowing year-round, owing to the stable water conditions enhanced by unique hydrogen content. International competitions have been held here, including the 1963 European and World Championships."
