"The monastery is perched at 3,900 meters (10,000 ft) above the Paro Valley floor, and looks like it clings to the side of the mountain. It is one of the most iconic landmarks in Bhutan.
The name "Tiger's Nest" comes from a legend that Guru Padmasambhava, the founder of Tantric Buddhism in Bhutan, arrived here riding on the back of a tigress. He is said to have meditated in a cave here for three years, three months, three weeks, three days and three hours before leaving his mark on Bhutanese Buddhism. "
