" All that stands in Búðir is a boutique hotel, a lava field, and the iconic black church. Set to the backdrop of beautiful mountains, this location couldn't get any more picturesque if it tried. Built in 1847, but not currently in use. Time: 10 minutes - 1 hour Rating: 5/5 Crowds: few-moderate Vehicle: all accessible Parking: small sized lot - free to park Amenities: none - restaurant/cafe/bar inside of Hotel Budir right next door. Pro-tip: most people just stop here for 10 minutes to get a photo and leave, but if you have time there's a huge lava field that runs to the sea and you could easily walk around for an hour and explore! More info: today the church is only used for special occasions such as a wedding - but you'll pay a premium price!"

"Búðir, on the south coast of the Snæfellsnes peninsula, is a tiny hamlet (definition: smaller than a town) that's surrounded by lava fields. This spot was once a bustling trade hub for West Iceland under Danish rule. That's pretty hard to believe when you look around today. It's now home to a high waterfall, a black church, remote Hótel Búðir, and lots of sheep."

"This is a classic spot in Iceland. There were a ton of people photgraphing it. It was cool, but Giselle thought it was overhyped. I (Stephen) really liked it. It's a church that you've never seen before. It's super symmetrical and has a lot of history. It's a super fun area to stop at, especially since it's about a 2 minute drive off the main road."
