"*As of December 2021, the volcano may no longer be erupting, but it is still an awesome experience to see and explore around the crater!* This was the highlight of our whole trip. At the beginning of our trip, we got unlucky, and it wasn't really going off. Later that day, we checked the live cam (link provided), and it was going off. It was incredible, so we went back a second time to see it going off. The hike is pretty steep. There are about four different viewpoints that you can hike to. They're constantly changing. Photo Tip: We chose to hike the volcano via Path C by Langihryggur which is 4 km long one way, to a spot where you can see the crater and a view the lava. We thought this view had the best options for photos. The crater is visible after about 1 km hike and 100 m elevation. Make sure to bring lots of layers, as the top can get incredibly windy and cold! They also offer guided tours if you're not comfortable going by yourself. This was definitely a bucket list experience. "
"Este maravilloso volcan en ciertas temporadas se activa, puedes estar pendiente en su pagina oficial de cuando hay actividad volcanica! "
