Here's my itinerary for a 9-day trip interrailing Italy! In this guide you will see the top places to stay, eat and drink in Florence (2 days), Rome (3 days), Pompeii (1 day) and Positano (3 days). The itinerary stops in key regions of Italy, allowing you to experience the cultural and foodie regional differences of Italy. 

The best time of year to go is September, as it won't be packed with people on their summer holidays but is still hot! By the end of this itinerary, I guarantee you will be almost entirely made of pasta and pizza.

This was the blueprint for our Honeymoon, but this trip can be used for any couple looking for a romantic getaway to Italy. We begin in Venice before traveling to Florence, 3 Tuscany Cities and Wineries, and ending this dream getaway in Positano on the picturesque Amalfi Coast. Each day has been thoughtfully planned to give you the ultimate vacation. 

Pro Tip: We travelled June/July, but you can opt for May/June or September/October for lower prices and less crowds while still enjoying nice weather.  They will also harvest the grapes and olives around October. If traveling off-season, please note some recommendations may be closed for the season.

12 Day Romantic Italian Getaway: Venice-Florence/Tuscany-Positano/Amalfi Coast

Chez Black

A famous seafood restaurant frequented by many celebrities. This place has been well-established since the 80s, which you can tell by the tacky mermaid decor (but this just adds to the experience). Make sure to book well in advance, if not turn up at 9pm to queue and they will fit you in.

Right on the water, this restaurant is one of the most famous in Positano. Definitely grab a reservation if you plan to dine here!

Some of the popular dishes at Chez Black include the octopus carpaccio and their signature spaghetti with sea urchin.
