Now, located precisely at the top of the parish of Ribeira da Janela, in Eira da Achada, this observatory allows you to see the parishes of Seixal, São Vicente and Ponta Delgada. The picture is completed, of course, with the beauty of the rugged and rocky terrain typical of the coastline of this Madeiran region. Opened in 2009, the Ribeira da Janela viewpoint has a series of infrastructures that make it pleasant for both tourists and the local population. In this location, it is possible to find sanitary facilities, spaces dedicated to children, areas prepared for picnics and a parking lot. In the vicinity of the viewpoint, in Foz da Ribeira da Janela, the seascape is marked by the presence of large rock formations that rise into the ocean. At the top of one of these islets, the rock has an opening that resembles a window — a peculiarity that served as justification for the name of the river and the parish."
