What people say

"Despite its name, the ABBA Museum is not a traditional museum in the conventional sense, as it lacks collections, research activities, and is structured as a for-profit organization. Consequently, it is not affiliated with the International Council of Museums (ICOM) or the Swedish Museum Association. The idea for an ABBA-themed exhibition in Stockholm emerged in 2006, inspired by the successful permanent exhibition The Beatles Story in Liverpool. Founders Ulf Westman and Ewa Wigenheim-Westman initially planned to open the exhibition in 2008, anticipating that it would attract around 500,000 visitors annually. The original location was to be a former customs building at the port of Stockholm, but financial difficulties led to the project's abandonment in 2009, and the site was ultimately repurposed for a contemporary photography center called Fotografiska. In 2012, new plans were announced for a permanent ABBA exhibition, resulting in the establishment of the ABBA Museum. This museum serves as the permanent home for the traveling exhibition ABBAWORLD, which toured various locations in Europe and Australia from 2009 to 2011. The museum features a range of interactive displays, including stage costumes donated by the band members and audio and video stations that allow visitors to engage with ABBA's music, sing along, and immerse themselves in the band's history."
