Hej Hej! Welcome to Stockholm
When to visit:
For the best weather, visit between May and September. I went in August and even though there were short patches of rain during the trip, it was still mostly warm and pleasant weather. Pack a light jacket and/or an umbrella just in case but you may barely need them. If you would rather visit during the colder months you'll have an abundance of coffee shops to pop into for a warm up but be mindful that it can get down to about -3°C so make sure to pack appropriately.
Getting around:
Within Stockholm city centre, the best way to get around is on foot so that you can discover things as you wander. I did notice that bicycles and scooters were everywhere as an easy rental option and the roads are purposely designed for easy travel.
If you're island hopping there are plenty of ferry options, it wasn't expensive and they are frequent. Don't worry too much about not getting an advance ticket as there are ticket offices before you board.
There's also the more conventional buses, tram and metro if you're going a slightly longer distance. Just a quick tap of your card or Apple Pay and you can hop right on.
We stayed about 15 minutes outside of the city centre and there were 3 of us. So instead of individually paying for bus passes and the journey taking 2-3 times longer, we opted to each take turns grabbing an Uber in and out of the city. It was a much more cost and time effective option for us.
