Vis Island, Croatia

"Vis is one of the lesser known and therefore less crowded islands. It's accessible by ferry from Split and doable as a day trip, although don't wait until the last ferry home as that's a bit stressful. I'd advise going to Komiza which is on the other side of the island from where the ferry arrives. This is accessible via bus or you could rent a scooter, or take a taxi. It's a great place to spend the day and discover something a little off the beaten path. "
