"Cabo Ortegal is one of the northernmost points of the Iberian Peninsula, surpassed by Cabo de Estaca de Bares, with a latitude of 43º 46' 20' North and longitude 7º 52' 05' West.
Due to its geological, morphological, ornithological and scenic value, Ortegal is included in the “Costa Ártabra” site of community interest (L.I.C.).
It is one of the most important estuaries in Spain and Europe, as recognized by its cataloguing, which, among others, includes: a wetland included in the Ramsar agreement and therefore of international importance and a special protection zone for birds, as well as a site of community importance."
