"Also known simply as Prokurative, it is a grand square located on the western edge of Diocletian's Palace in Split. Built in the mid-19th century, it's a beautiful example of Neo-Renaissance architecture, inspired by Venice's famous St. Mark's Square. Three sides of the square are lined by a series of elaborate Neo-Renaissance buildings with arcades and loggias. These structures used to house government offices and shops. The southern side of the square remains open, offering stunning views of the harbor and the Riva promenade. A prominent feature of the square is the statue of Marko Marulić, a renowned 15th-century Croatian poet and humanist, often referred to as the "Father of Croatian Renaissance"."
