"Welcome to the whale-watching capital of Iceland. Húsavík is a coastal town (population 2,300) on Iceland's Diamond Circle. It's a thirty-mile detour north of the Ring Road (or about an hour from Mývatn). It sits on Skjálfandi, a bay created by glacial activity, and faces Víknafjöll and Kinnarfjöll, two mountain ranges across the water.
Húsavík was the first place in Iceland to be settled by the Vikings (around 870). It's now known for its wooden church (Húsavíkurkirkja), museums (the Húsavík Whale Museum, the Exploration Museum, and the Eurovision Museum), and geothermal baths. Whale-watching tours allow you to see not only whales (23 species have been noted in the area), but dolphins and puffins, as well. Plus, it should go without saying, seafood dinners are a must."

"There's a reason why it's so hard to find a place to live in Husavík in the summer. Because it's insanely stunning especially on a clear summer day. Nothing beats getting a beer at a place right in front of the harbor after going whale watching and hitting the GeoSea Geothermal Sea Baths (it's salt water!!!). It's a perfect day, in my opinion. There's loads to do here, but those three things are unmissable. When booking whale watching, go for a company that has smaller vessels to get a more personal experience. Also don't forget to reserve your time slot at GeoSea so you can actually get in. If you're a natural history fan, the whale museum is also a cool stop. "

"Húsavík is a charming town on the north coast of Iceland, nicknamed the "Whale Watching Capital of Iceland". It's a popular destination for travelers seeking to experience the magic of seeing whales in their natural habitat. Here's what makes Húsavík a must-visit:
Relax and soak in the warm geothermal waters at Geosea, a geothermal spa located just outside of Húsavík. The spa offers a variety of pools at different temperatures, as well as steam rooms and saunas. The outdoor pools provide stunning views of the surrounding landscape. "
