"In a country full of magnificent waterfalls, Goðafoss is one of the most impressive. The Waterfall of the Gods tumbles 39 feet down and nearly 100 feet across the Skjálfandafljót, a river that originates from Vatnajökull (Iceland's largest glacier). An easy, nearly 2-mile hiking trail loops around the half-circular waterfall. There is a gas station, a gift shop, a cafe, and plenty of parking here. Goðafoss lies just off Route 1--really, you can see it from the Ring Road--so this is a very popular destination. Go early or late to avoid the crowds."

"A lot of tourist buses come here at once, which is not something we were aware of. It was a busy, but there is enough space to move around and get different views of the falls. The only time there was an issue was when we needed to wait in line for something. The bathroom for instance had a long wait. Additionally, it took some time to get down/up from the falls when we went to get an unclose view down below. It was a bit slippery from the spray of the falls, it also happened to be drizzling when we went, so good hiking shoes are a must here. "

"Godafoss waterfall is a spectacular waterfall located in northeastern Iceland. The mythical waterfall's beauty is further enhanced by the waterfall's roots in Iceland's religious history.
Godafoss, the "Waterfall of the Gods," is one of Iceland’s most iconic natural treasures, situated in the northeastern region of the country. Godafoss cascades over a curved edge, spanning approximately 100 feet (30 meters) in width and plummeting 39 feet (12 meters) down into a serene and picturesque pool."
