"The Pisac Ruins, located 33 kilometers from Cusco, offer an exciting peek into the ancient Inca world. It features a variety of structures that serve both practical and ceremonial purposes. The well-preserved Sun Temple, with its precise stonework, stands as the highlight of the ruins. It is a symbol of the Inca's astronomical and religious knowledge. The site also includes a residential area, ceremonial baths, and a sophisticated water system, highlighting the Incas' advanced engineering skills. You will be rewarded with great views of Pisac and the surrounding Andean mountains from the ruins while hiking along the trails. If you want to gain in-depth knowledge about the ruins, you can find many local tour guides in Pisac. The best way to find one is to contact the host of your accommodation. For those interested in history, guided tours are available, offering deep insights into the significance of the site and the daily lives of its ancient inhabitants. Additionally, the nearby town of Pisac is famous for its vibrant artisan market, where visitors can purchase handmade crafts and traditional Andean textiles. 🏅 ACTIVITIES Since the views of Pisac and the surrounding mountains are astonishing, photography is an excellent activity in the area. If you want to be active, I recommend hiking from Pisac's center to the ruins. My route is in the link section, and you can easily follow it and do this hike yourself. The entry fee for the ruins in Pisac is 70 soles. A good deal is to buy the Boleto Turistico for 130 soles; this special ticket lets you visit 16 places in Cusco and the Sacred Valley area. I wrote an entire section about the Boleto Turistico in this guide. 🚶‍♀️HIKING This hike starts from the center of Pisac, with incredible views of the town from the top of the ruins. The area has a couple of temples, and exploring them will result in a satisfying experience. The hike is 10km long with an elevation gain of 922m if you go to the top and return to Pisac in the same direction. Sun exposure is high; there are not many opportunities to find trees on the way, except in some covered parts of the temples. I recommend starting early in the morning when the sun is weak. 🚃 TRANSPORTATION Colectivos departs from Puputi Street and always goes to Pisac since it's a short ride. Please make sure to always ask the price before entering the colectivo. Often, drivers can charge you more based on your look, so it's always good to ask a local inside the Colectivo how much they paid for the ride. "
"The Parque Arqueológico Pisac is an impressive archaeological site featuring stunning Inca ruins set against a picturesque backdrop of the Andes. The well-preserved terraces, temples, and agricultural structures showcase the Incas' architectural prowess. Hiking up to the site offers breathtaking views of the Sacred Valley. The nearby market in the town of Pisac adds to the experience, providing an opportunity to immerse yourself in local culture. Overall, Pisac is a must-visit for anyone interested in history and stunning landscapes."

"These ruins are worth the hike. It's pretty difficult just due to elevation gain, but the views of the Sacred Valley are unmatched. Plus, the old man who runs a store at the base of the hike will sell you cold gatorade at the end of the hike. "

💪This is a travel guide to the ecotourism scene in the Cusco province in Peru. It's a great place for ecotourism, with several options, some affordable and others not so much. I did most of the activities myself, so I added all my experience and what I have learned about each place in this guide. 🏞️ This guide shows an active but cultural side of Peru, where your adventurous spirit will flourish as you explore the best Cusco has to offer. It will help you quickly identify the main activities and adventures available in the province. ✅ You will use this guide well if you are in Cusco and want to dive into the ecotourism scene in the province and be active while traveling. This guide is useful for those who enjoy doing activities by themselves. While most of the activities can be done with a tour agency, I did most of them by myself, so you will find recommendations for agencies only for the few activities where it is hard to do without an agency. ❌ You will not use this guide well if you are looking for recommendations for restaurants or hotel accommodations in Cusco. One section in this guide only provides recommendations for places where I ate and stayed in Cusco. However, it is not the focus of this guide; it only includes places where I had good experiences and want to recommend them to you. 💡You will find tips on arranging transportation, which tour agencies to contact if you prefer to tour with a group, and general tips about the activities. This guide will save you hours of research for activities in Cusco and give you a clear insight into what's available. After that, you need to book the tour with the recommended agency or do it yourself if you prefer. 💰 This travel guide is a once-in-a-lifetime purchase; I am continuously on the road, traveling and exploring new places. Whenever I uncover a new gem or get more information about a place I explored, I will add it here, and you will receive the updates automatically at no extra cost. 🍲 Most of the time, I brought food with me on my adventures, but in some, I found great restaurants in Cusco. One section of the guide covers all my recommendations to you. 📕I run a travel blog (https://helpmezuka.com/) where I write about ecotourism and tips for travelers about the destinations I uncovered in my journey. If I covered one adventure in this guide, you will find a link to the blog post where you can find complementary information about it. 🛄 Are you ready to be the next Cusqueño/a EcoTourist? Embark on this journey and let this guide help you uncover the best of the ecotourism scene in Cusco.
