What people say

"Close to the castle, just a few hundred meters higher on the hillside, rises the Pelișor, built between 1899 and 1903 by the architect Karel Liman and decorated by Bernhard Ludwig. Pelișor Castle was designed as a residence for Prince Ferdinand, the heir to the crown of King Charles, and his wife, Princess Maria. Grandson of King Carol, Ferdinand will become the next king of Romania. Queen Maria left her mark on the personality of Pelișor Castle, decorated, under her supervision, in a unique variety of Art Nouveau style, which combines Celtic and Byzantine elements. King Ferdinand and Queen Maria continued to live in Pelișor even after the Coronation. The pelesh seemed too big and overwhelming to them. Queen Maria wrote in her memoirs: "We prefer to keep our customs in our home, smaller and more cheerful." Unlike Peleș Castle, a royal residence designed for official functions, Pelișor is, above all else, a home. If Peleș is imposing and solemn, Pelișor is elegant and welcoming. Its exterior recalls the architecture of mountain huts and maintains consistency with the style of Peleș Castle."
"It is a wonderful palace and place to visit, for me is more beautiful than Peleș and the price is affordable."
Kinga Nagygyorgy
"A few minutes walk from Peles Castle, this is known to have been Queen Marie’s dream house. "
