"Breidafjörður is the large bay that separates the Snæfellsnes peninsula (to the south) from the Westfjords (to the north) on the west coast of Iceland. Wide Fjord is 78 miles long and 31 miles wide. It's surrounded by mountains and sea cliffs. It has about 3,000 islands (only Flatey is inhabited year-round). It's also where seabirds, dolphins, grey seals, porpoises, and whales (killer and minke) like to hang out. A boat is the best way to explore the fjord. Sightseeing cruises and whale-watching tours depart from Stykkishólmur. So does Ferry Baldur, which connects the Snæfellsnes peninsula to the Westfjords."

"Not a lot of companies offer a cruise for puffin watching here - what is recommended is joining a whale-watching one that will also give you an opportunity to see the lovely birds."

"Great views of the coast and wildlife. I enjoyed walking along here. Take a boat tour to see the active birdlife including puffins!"
