Kaunas Castle

In the 16th century, it served as a prison, and by the early 17th century, it housed courts and an archive. A flood from the Neris River in 1611 caused some damage to the castle. The 17th century also saw the castle used by the Swedish military during their war with the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. This marked the end of the castle's military significance. Today, Kaunas Castle stands as a ruin, a fascinating reminder of its tumultuous past.
