"🦭 Need to see cute seals while in Iceland? Ytri Tunga Seal Beach is the place!!
😊 Bonus!! It’s one of the few beaches in Iceland with golden sand versus black (although I have to admit, black sand beaches are pretty spectacular).
🌞 The best time of year to see seals is in the summer (May to August) when the tide is low, but you can see them year-round.
😀 I was there in November and was thrilled to see serval seals playing around in the water.
🦭 The most common visitors are Harbour seals and Grey seals.
‼️ Highly encourage visiting these cuties, but please follow the below cautions:
🚶 Walk slowly, stay on the designated path.
😶 Be as quiet as possible so you don’t stress out the seals.
🚫 Don't approach the seals, just watch (& photograph) from afar.
🦭 Seal moms can be more defensive (aggressive) during pupping season. Keep your distance!
😊 Pupping season for Harbour seals is in the summer and late autumn for Grey seals.
💰 You must pay to park. There's a small booth with a pay station with easy-to-follow instructions.
🦭 The parking money is used to support the maintenance of the seal's habitat.
💰COST: Free
🚗 PARKING: Good sized paid lot
⏰ HOURS: Always open"

"This place is really worth it, specially if you've never seen a wild seal! Bare in mind, that as it's nature, you might not see seals that day. Nonetheless, I must say that all the times I've been there, I've seen them, from further or closer, but they were there.
Recently they installed a parking fee on site, so you will need to pay for parking the car in an automatic cashier.
Oh, and be silent when you are there, and don't approach too much to seals. Always respect nature. "

"Alongside Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon and the Vatnsnes Peninsula, Ytri Tunga is the most reliable place in Iceland to see seals.
Just offshore, on some rocks protruding from the water, at least a few individuals from the local colony can be seen hauling out all throughout the year. The best time to see them, however, is in the summer months."
