Iceland Ring Road - Ultimate 7 to 10 days itinerary
General Considerations
The Ring Road, or Route 1, encircles Iceland, offering travelers an unparalleled opportunity to explore the country's diverse landscapes, from glaciers and volcanoes to waterfalls and black sand beaches. Before embarking on this journey, it's essential to consider a few practicalities to make the most of your adventure.
Supermarkets such as Bónus and Krónan can help you stock up on affordable groceries, with Bónus being especially popular for its low prices. Accommodation options range from guesthouses and hotels to campsites and farm stays. Booking in advance is highly recommended during the peak summer season. Lastly, remember to respect Iceland’s pristine environment by following Leave No Trace principles and staying on marked paths to preserve the fragile ecosystem.
Please note that this guide focuses on the Ring Road and locations easily accessible from it. For detailed information on other types of itineraries, such as the West Fjords or the Highlands, I have published additional guides that you may find helpful.
