" Taughannock Falls (pronounced ta-gan- ick) is just north of Ithaca and near Cayuga Lake. The only time I have been there is when we must've been having a little bit of a drought, so there wasn't much of a waterfall but the views were still great, with plenty of hiking trails. The Finger Lakes are a beautiful area of New York, and it's also an area known for all of the wineries, if you're into wine. If you happen to be on Cayuga Lake, stop by this amazing gorge. Check out Ithaca on your travels too! "

"Taughannock Falls plunges 215 feet past rocky cliffs that tower nearly 400 feet above the gorge. Gorge and rim trails offer spectacular views from above the falls and from below at the end of the gorge trail.
I would do some additional research prior to venturing on this hike as I would say it is not for beginners. Remember to leave no trace!"

"We visited on a Monday just before sunset, so we only had time to do the gorge trail. Very few people and at the falls we had the place to ourselves. Don’t miss this iconic NY waterfall."
