"Part bakery and part French bistro, Barberet may be the best bakery I've been to in the US (and I do happen to like bakeries a lot). Owner Cedric Barberet would be a candidate for premier pastry chef in his home country of France; seeing a shop with such delicious breads, pastries, and desserts is unreal in Central PA.
Up front, my personal favorites are the almond croissant and the Opera cake. Their madeleines and macarons are pretty good too (as is everything in the display case). In the back, the casual bistro serves delicious French food. I usually go for some moules frites when I dine, but everything is good. Make sure you save room for dessert - the Île Flottante is a must have for any first time visitors! "
