"The ArtScience Museum, located within the integrated resort of Marina Bay Sands in Singapore's Downtown Core, is a striking architectural marvel that combines art, science, culture, and technology. Officially opened on February 17, 2011, by Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, the museum has become a prominent cultural destination, hosting major exhibitions that explore the interplay between these diverse fields. Designed by renowned architect Moshe Safdie, the museum's unique architecture is reminiscent of a lotus flower, symbolizing purity and beauty. Often referred to as "The Welcoming Hand of Singapore" by Las Vegas Sands chairman Sheldon Adelson, the structure features a round base at its center, from which ten extensions—referred to as "fingers"—protrude. Each "finger" serves as a gallery space, incorporating skylights at their tips that provide sustainable illumination, enhancing the visitor experience by allowing natural light to illuminate the curved interior walls. While the ArtScience Museum has plans for a permanent exhibition at the ArtScience Gallery, it primarily hosts touring exhibitions curated by other museums. This approach allows it to showcase a wide array of innovative and thought-provoking displays, attracting visitors from around the world and enriching Singapore's cultural landscape.
