What people say

Rachelle Rutgrink
"The Abbott Ridge trail is a remarkable journey that leads you through a dramatic alpine landscape of sweeping meadows and rugged mountain ridges. As you hike, the trail unfolds breathtaking panoramic views, inviting you to witness the stunning vistas of Glacier National Park. Reaching Abbott Ridge rewards you with an unforgettable perspective, where the grandeur of the surrounding peaks and valleys stretch before you in all directions. This hike is an exploration of both the park's natural beauty and your own sense of adventure, making Abbott Ridge a captivating destination that showcases the untamed splendor of the Canadian Rockies. Covers around 16,5 km and 1480m of elevation gain. Takes 8 hours to complete. Pro tip: start with the steep road up to Abbott Ridge to cover the distance and elevation quickly. This route is not great when going down. To descend, take the longer route but be prepared for snowy sections. Take poles. Bring Plenty of water. No water sources up the mountain in summer seasons. Be prepared for many mosquitoes. "
"Abbott Ridge: 10.8 miles (hard) Abbott Ridge is a difficult but wonderful day-hike with a lot of elevation gain. The trail starts in the trees with a steep incline, but the elevation gain becomes less intense after the lake. The lake offers a nice view of the mountain reflected on the surface of the water. The trail climbs up to a beautiful meadow with a great view of the mountains behind. Hike up the ridge, and you'll be met with a gorgeous panoramic view - with amazing mountains, snow fields, and glaciers."
