What people say

"The Nordic Museum (Swedish: Nordiska museet) is a prominent cultural institution located on the island of Djurgården in Stockholm, Sweden. Established in the early 19th century by Artur Hazelius, the museum focuses on the history and culture of the Swedish people from the late Middle Ages (circa 1520) to the present. Hazelius also founded the adjacent open-air museum, Skansen; initially, both institutions were part of the same project but became independent entities in 1963. Notably, the objects exhibited at Skansen remain the property of the Nordic Museum. While the museum aimed to encompass the culture of all Scandinavia, Hazelius ultimately focused on Sweden. The exhibitions cover various aspects of Swedish life throughout the ages, showcasing items that reflect different social classes and themes, including crafts, cultural traditions, gastronomy, human habitats, toys, and costumes. The museum building, designed by architect Isak Gustaf Clason, was constructed between 1888 and 1907. Although the original plans were significantly more ambitious, envisioning a structure four times larger, the final design draws inspiration from Danish Renaissance architecture, particularly exemplified by Frederiksborg Castle. This architectural heritage is reflected in the museum's distinctive and grand appearance, making it an integral part of Stockholm's cultural landscape."
"Let's start with my favorite museum, Nordiska, which comprehends all the traditions and lore of the Nordic heritage. This museum, like most of the museums in Stockholm, offers kids' activities and many different exhibitions. I love to go just to have the opportunity to get lost in this amazing building that reminds me of Monsters University. On the Museum's website there are several options for small to bigger tours, I have linked the specific page here"

"A fabulous museum and in a beautiful building dedicated to Nordic history. It's located right next the Vasa, ABBA and Viking museums on the island of Djurgården. If you're having a museum day the location is ideal and you'll find interesting exhibitions that'll help you learn about their culture and ethnography."
