Established between 1888 and 1890, the park was the vision of Dragutin Blažeković, an Austrian deputy born to a noble family in Osijek.
Despite his role with the Austrians, Blažeković was a strong advocate for Croatian rights and resigned from his position when his demands were not met. His legacy, however, is beautifully embodied in this park. It features winding pathways, a serene pond, and elevated spots that offer spectacular views of the sea.
Blažeković passed away three years after the park’s completion. Although he was reluctant to have the park named in his honor, it stands as a testament to his dedication to both the city and Croatian culture. The park remains a cherished green space in Zadar, blending natural beauty with historical significance."
