What people say

"Built in the 1400's (there's some debate on the exact year), the Black Tower was part of Braşov's medieval defense system that encircles the oldest part of the city. On separate occasions in the 1500's and 1600's, fire and lightning scorched the walls, turning them black, giving the structure its name of the Black Tower. In 1995, the tower was repaired and renovated as a small museum, with the modern glass roof replacing original architectural design. From the exterior, you get one of the best scenic overlooks of the city. The panorama includes the full span from modern construction to the east, through the oldest center of the city including Council Square and the Black Church, the BRASOV sign on Mount Tâmpa, into Schei district and the mountains in the west. For postcard worthy photos, the White Tower can't be missed! Note: You can hike up to the Black Tower from Strada Dupa Ziduri, "the street behind the walls." A trail connects it to the White Tower. "
"The Black Tower is not far from Bastionul Fierarilor. It is placed on Warthe Hill. The tower was constructed in the 15th century at the same time as the White Tower. It got its name after a fire in 1689, when its wall became black. The tower has 11 m height and its walls are 2 m thick. Each side of the tower has six shooting holes arranged two by two in three lines. The tower was damaged several times. There is a small museum in the Turnul Negru that tells its history."
