GAM - Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea

"The GAM was the first museum in Italy to promote a public collection of modern art within it. The nucleus of the collection dates back to 1863, when the Savoys endowed Turin with a civic museum. Arranged along a path that winds along the four floors of the museum, the collections and exhibitions surprise visitors with their richness. The visit itinerary begins on the second floor, where paintings and sculptures from the 19th century are exhibited. The first floor instead houses the works of the twentieth century, starting from Divisionism, Futurism and Abstractionism to reach Pop Art and Arte Povera, chronologically aligning works by great Italian and foreign masters, such as Balla, Severini, Boccioni, De Chirico, Dix, Ernst, Klee. The GAM offers a rich programming: from major exhibitions of Italian and international artists to more contemporary research dedicated to young people."

"I never get sick of visiting this gallery! Fantastic mix of modern art the permanent collection is so interesting and a mix of artists Italian and not. So easy to spend two hours wandering the rooms some of the art dates back to the late 1800's. - I always like to visit some of the beautiful stores along Corso Vittorio Emanuele. If you need s pick me up on the way back Caffe Platti it dates back to the same time as some of the paintings in GAM super cute. "
