Palace Lucerna
What people say
Melanie Mallory
"Mel says: Designed in the art nouveau style in the 1920s by famous Czech architect Václav Havel Sr (you can find his bust at the top of the stairs leading to the cinema cafe, next to the upside down horse statue). The statue hanging from the ceiling is a parody of the statue on Wenceslas square of St Wenceslas, the patron saint of the Czech people. This parody artwork was created by a very famous Czech sculptor, David Černý, who has done many controversial and famous pieces in Prague. Inside the passage you will find a trendy independent cinema (Kino Lucerna) upstairs, and the popular Lucerna music hall underground."
