Výstaviště Praha Holešovice

"Výstaviště, established in 1891, is a prominent exhibition ground in Prague, hosting a variety of exhibitions, concerts, and cultural events. It is situated in Bubeneč, near the Nádraží Holešovice metro station on line C. To its west lies the expansive Stromovka park and a planetarium, while to the east is Sportovní hala Fortuna, the home venue for HC Sparta Praha. Among the key features of this area is the iconic Industrial Palace, an Art Nouveau building designed by Bedřich Münzberger in 1891. This impressive glass and steel structure, with its three sections and 51-metre-high clock tower, serves as a venue for exhibitions and cultural activities. Although a fire in 2008 destroyed the left wing, it is currently under reconstruction. Another major attraction is Křižík's Light Fountain, an illuminated musical fountain built by František Křižík for the World Exhibition in 1891. The fountain was later renovated in the 1920s by architect Zdeněk Stašek, now boasting 1,300 colored lights, over 2 kilometers of water pipes, and nearly 3,000 nozzles. It features classical and pop music performances, along with other artistic projects. After a period of reconstruction between 2017 and 2021, the fountain is now back in operation. The area also includes the Lapidarium of the National Museum, the World of the Oceans aquarium, the Pyramid Theatre, and the largest painting in the Czech Republic, Luděk Marold’s panorama of the Battle of Lipany. In the northern part of Výstaviště, an amusement park known as Lunapark operates, which hosts St. Matthew's Fair every spring."
