"The German Fountain, also known as the Alman Çeşmesi in Turkish, is a monumental fountain located in Sultanahmet Square in Istanbul, Turkey. It was a gift from the German Emperor Wilhelm II to the Ottoman Sultan Abdülhamid II in 1898. The German Fountain was designed by German architect Bruno Schmitz and built by the German company MAN. It was inaugurated on January 1, 1901. The fountain is made of white marble and has a neo-Byzantine style. It is decorated with eight bronze statues of German soldiers and sailors, as well as with reliefs depicting scenes from German history."
